Growing up right across the river from Louisville, Kentucky in Jeffersonville, Indiana, life revolved around three things – basketball, horse racing, and bourbon. Two of the three became passions of mine. (As a ’76 graduate, I do follow Purdue basketball and, begrudgingly the last few years, Purdue football.)

An avid horse racing fan, I enjoy collecting memorabilia (you can find me on ebay as Swaps) and following horses – including seeing American Pharoah win the Triple Crown at the Belmont last year. Each year, my wife, Lynn, and I host a Kentucky Derby party – and naturally the featured drink is a mint julep.

As bourbon began to see a renaissance over the last 10 years or so and the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky really began to grow, so did my collection and interest. I’m a proud owner of 20 & 23yr bottles of Pappy Van Winkle, and our bar cart at home is almost full.

While still a Hoosier at heart, today my wife and I live in Southern California. Through the prodding of friends grew this blog. I hope you’ll enjoy sharing in the role bourbon plays in my family’s life – whether at Derby parties or for a celebratory drink when our kids (grown and of legal drinking age) are home – and visit often to learn more about bourbon (and more).

Let’s take a journey down the Bourbon Trail together and enjoy each other’s company as we learn more about the “Spirit of Kentucky” Bourbon.
